Country Music Legend Buck Trent

Two-time Country Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year and country music legend Buck Trent has long delighted audiences with his dynamic showmanship and inspired instrumental music. He continues to bring his unique brand of old-time country music and homespun comedy to audiences today from the Branson Famous Theatre on Highway 165. You won't want to miss his morning show on your next trip to Branson.

Buck Trent grew up in humble Spartansburg, South Carolina. Young Buck showed an interest in music and entertaining at a young age, and he started performing at a local radio station when he was only 10 years old. Years later, he left his home in South Carolina and traveled the country playing music before finally landing in Nashville in 1959. Not long after arriving in Music City, he was asked to join the Bill Carlisle Show and appeared on the Grand Old Opry. Buck went on to be a member of Bill Monroe's legendary "Bluegrass Boys" and played with Porter Wagoner's "Wagon Masters from 1960 until 1961. Buck continues to entertain television audiences today with regular appearances on the RFD-TV Network.

Buck Trent appeared on the Roy Clark Show and Hee-Haw, and it was with Roy Clark that he toured the Soviet Union in 1976. Clark and Trent were the very first country music acts to ever tour the Communist country. Buck also played lead guitar on "I Will Always Love You" and "Jolene," two of Dolly Parton's most famous songs. He was also featured on two of Marty Stuart's songs from his album, Nashville, Vol. 1: Tear the Woodpile Down. Buck Trent plays the banjo, dobro, steel guitar, mandolin, electric bass, and guitar, and was the inventor of the electric banjo.

Buck has been performing in Branson since 1990, and he was one of the first performers in town to play a morning show. Thanks to Buck Trent, you can enjoy even more shows on your Branson vacation! A cast of talented and seasoned Branson performers join Buck for a unique blend of old-time country, gospel, and bluegrass music and lighthearted, family-friendly comedy. Lead vocals are provided by Branson veteran Katie Lynn who, in the past, has performed with both Mickey Gilley and Jim Owens. Bruce Hoffman is an instrumentalist rivaling Buck Trent himself and is a skilled vocalist, fiddle, mandolin, and steel guitar player. Singer and instrumentalist Jonathan Black is sure to entertain with his saxophone, mandolin, and piano playing, and you may remember his performances with artists such as Glen Campbell, Tony Orlando, and Ricky Skaggs. Rounding out the cast is drummer and vocalist Rob Blackwood, a member of the world-famous Blackwood family. In addition to performing with his legendary family, he's also made music with Tammy Wynette and other well-known country and gospel musicians. Between Buck Trent's heartfelt, personal stories, his world-class instrumentals, and the best supporting cast in the business, the Buck Trent Show is one that is not to be missed.
